Introducing the Uni Teaching Fellows Forum and Changes to the Teaching Fellowship Scheme
There have been a number of changes across the university recently, and the University Teaching Fellows (UTF) is no exception. We have been relaunched as a group that is self governing.

Publications to inspire practice
We asked that Teaching Fellows identify Learning & Teaching focused books that have inspired their practice. In this issue we have contributions from Maureen Spencer and Paul Gibbs. Some may surprise you.

Tips from Teaching Fellows to support students during their transition into Middlesex
We asked a range of Teaching Fellows for tips or examples from their own practice for supporting students during induction and for their transition period at the University (first 6 weeks).

To encourage engagement in the classroom, embrace smart phones, tablets and laptops, and introduce an app such as Socrative. Socrative is a free learning tool and can be used on any device with a web browser to poll your class, test understanding and for quizzes and educational exercises.

Empowering a generation: students shaping their learning experience
There have been a number of changes in the Students’ Union over the last few months; a new name – MDXSU – a new logo, a new ethos and crucially, new representative structures.
